World Sevens is back after its success in Europe, this time with more at stake as it takes a trip across the pond.

The event is at Ford Lauderdale, Florida, US, and the prize money is around £3.76 million. Whoever wins is contractually bound to give a particular portion to players and staff.

The event will take place at Beyond Bancard Fields from December 5th to 7th.

Last time around in Estoril, Portugal, Bayern Munich emerged as champions after a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Manchester United in the final.

This tournament was known for its comedic entrances and players just enjoying football without the constraints or pressures of seasonal football.

Former players comprise the competition's advisory council, including former England international Anita Asante, Swedish international Caroline Seger, and American two-time World Cup winner Kelley O'Hara.

According to Mackesy, the tournament is designed to "elevate the women's game" and provide players "with a powerful new platform to showcase their talent, grow their personal brands, and provide economic opportunity in a way that truly reflects their value".

Asante, meanwhile, believes the W7F provides another opportunity for players "to shine".

"It's football, but faster, bolder, and made for the future," she said.

The aim is to host five tournaments a year, with more clubs from around the world agreeing to be part of a ‘club pool’ from which teams will be chosen for future tournaments.s

They are being planned in cities across the United States, Mexico, Asia, and Europe, and the aim is to have up to five tournaments every year.

Organisers say they hope to expand the number of teams competing in each event in future.

This edition will be "bigger and better" than the original tournament, organisers promised. The inaugural competition featured eight European clubs, all of which sent some of their top talents to participate in the two-day event.
