Arsenal progressed to the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup with a 2–0 victory over Aston Villa at Meadow Park, a result that owed much to a dominant second-half display. After being held at bay by an inspired Ellie Roebuck in the Villa goal before the break, the Gunners found their rhythm after half-time, with Stina Blackstenius and Kim Little both on the scoresheet to secure a place in the last 16.

chelsea cruise past crystal palace to begin fa cup defence in style

Chelsea began their defence of the Women’s FA Cup with a polished and ruthless performance as they swept aside Crystal Palace 5–0 in the fourth round at Kingsmeadow. Entering the competition at this stage as a WSL side, and as the current holders who have lifted the trophy six times, including four of the last five campaigns, Chelsea showed the gulf in quality and experience from the opening exchanges in a match that, despite not being broadcast, unfolded emphatically.

Women’s fa cup broadcast blackout raises serious questions

This season, the women’s FA was given broadcast rights to TNT and Channel 4. Unlike the men’s agreement, it seems TNT will not show all the games. This could be more expected for lower-league teams. But Chelsea v Crystal Palace, Manchester United v Burnley and Bournemouth v Manchester City will not be available at all until the next day. This is two WSL sides: the FA Cup holders and the top of the WSL.
