Japan edged hosts Australia 1-0 in a gripping Women’s Asian Cup final to secure their third continental title, silencing a record crowd of 74,397 at Stadium Australia. In a contest defined by fine margins and relentless intensity, a moment of brilliance from Maika Hamano ultimately separated the sides, condemning the Matildas to a third successive final defeat against the same opponents. AFCON Final Overturned Months Later as CAF Awards Morocco Title After Senegal Walk-Off Controversy

Months after the full-time whistle rang out in Morocco, the Confederation of African Football has only now changed the outcome. They overturned the on-field result of the 2025 AFCON, where Senegal originally defeated Morocco 1-0 after extra time in Rabat. But CAF’s appeal board awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory, declaring Senegal to have forfeited the match when they left the field of play without referee authorisations and therefore violated the competition's regulations.

London City Lionesses are reportedly monitoring Mapi León of Barcelona and Mary Earps of Paris Saint-Germain as potential signings to strengthen their squad.
