The transfer window has only been open for less than two weeks, and we already have big rumours and moves that could and have occurred. These are some I have yet to speak about.
Rumours, moves, and loan deals cancelled. January is providing that new year, new me vibes, and we are all here for it.
Anouk Denton, who ended 2025 on a high with her first England senior call-up and cap, is reportedly moving away from the WSL. There were rumours of Juventus, but it's currently widely reported that the West Ham defender could move to Bay FC in the NWSL for a club-record fee of around £200,000. The 22-year-old has been the brightest young player and the best this season for her club, and it has been a significant moment for the club’s strategy.
Alongside her, another West Ham defender, Amber Tysiak, has been linked with a move to German club Union Berlin in a separate deal, reportedly around £150,000 plus add-ons.
As Arsenal continue without their number one or two keeper, and their second being out for the rest of the season, they have recalled Naomi Williams from Loan at Bristol City. This has been cited due to injuries in their own squad, and at 18 years old, an Arsenal academy product who signed her first professional contract in June 2025 made only three appearances. This is not unusual; clubs sometimes recall loanees mid-season to cover injuries or to meet tactical needs.
Another Arsenal loanee returns in defender Cecily Wellesley-Smith from Leicester City, where she had gained valuable experience. These recalls suggest Arsenal want to regroup its young talents and manage their development more closely during this critical part of the season.
Aston Villa terminated Katie Robinson's loan at Everton early, and she has now rejoined her previous club, Bristol City. Robinson, who has five England caps, made 21 appearances for Villa since joining in 2024.
Hannah Blundell has recently come back from maternity leave. The 31-year-old England right-back has joined Everton from Manchester United for the remainder of the season to get her back to full fighting fitness. She is an experienced defender who also played for Chelsea. She has won the WSL title four times and the FA Cup twice, bringing leadership and stability to Everton's defence. Blundell spoke about her excitement to join Everton, praising the club’s fans and atmosphere, and she is expected to be a key figure as the Toffees aim to improve their league position in the second half of the season.
In the other Merseyside team, Liverpool has signed Norwegian international forward Anna Jøsendal from Hammarby IF. The 24‑year‑old had a productive spell in Sweden, scoring double‑digit goals and making a mark with her creativity and work rate. On joining Liverpool, she said it was a “dream come true” to play for the club she supported as a child.
Jøsendal has also represented the Norwegian senior national team, including appearances at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Finally, it has been reported that Sam Coffey is close to moving to Manchester City. The USWNT Midfielder, currently with Portland, is in advanced talks to sign for the WSL side. The 27-year-old has been a standout performer in the NWSL and the Thorns' captain in 2025. Coffey has 42 international caps with five goals and four assists. She was part of the US team that won Olympic gold in 2024. Sources claim Coffey was granted permission to travel to Manchester to finalise her move, and her omission from a recent USWNT training camp is believed to be connected to this transfer. While nothing has been officially confirmed by Manchester City or Portland Thorns yet, this would be one of the most significant midfield signings of the window if it happens.
