Not Just a Trophy—A Legacy: Lionesses Set to Be Honoured with Wembley Statue

If you have ever been to Wembley and walked up Wembley Way your likelly to have seen the statute of Sir Bobby Moore the captain to win England their only World Cup at the old wembley. So it would be fitting for the lionesses to have a statue under the arch as they too won a major toruphy the Euros at home the first Euros for England so its only fitting.

This trophy comes after the success at not just the Euros in 2022 but there perfomance at the 2023 World Cup. The FA have confirmed that the plan is well adanced with the comissioning process underway.

The statue will be located outside Wembley Stadium and will recognise the team's achievements in both tournaments.

Unlike the Bobby Moore statue from the 1966 World Cup win, it's not just a Leah Williamson, the captain trophy; it was likely to include them all or a tribute to the Lionesses group that won the Euros in 2022 and developed the women's game by leaps and bounds.

The FA is collaborating with Brent Council, the local authorities, on the project. They are working on a design, with the initial focus being a collective presentation of the team.

The FA has previously stated that they are ‘completely committed’ to the project and are making good progress. An update is expected at the end of the summer.

No trophy or statue will ever come close to the achievement they made in bringing women's football to the centre of sport, to improve visibility, be an icon and role models for the next generation

Maybe they will have to build a second statue if they win it again this summer; only time will tell.
