The saga of FC Barcelona women continues, and it is not looking good for the side. Currently, it has only 17 registered players and needs to sell more.

The side needs one million euros to balance its accounts. This can be done by reducing wage bills and selling players. The only player they have brought in is Laia Alexandri on a free transfer.

It has also been reported that Aitana Bonmati or Alexia Putellas could leave to raise around two million euros, impacting their performances due to exhaustion and making players more injury-prone, especially with European football.

Due to these financial issues, they have lost Ingrid Engen to Lyon, Ellie Roebuck to Aston Villa, Fridolina Rolfo to Malmo and many more.

It has been reported that nearly half of the squad will be out of combat next summer.

That list includes Cata Coll, Ona Battle, Claudia Pina, Salma Paralluelo and Alexia Putellas, all featured during the Euro 2025 final.

Other names on the list include Jana Fernandez, Caroline Graham Hansen and Mapi Leon.

Barcelona has been reported to have asked LaLiga to change Financial Fair Play rules, requesting that the club's women’s team have a separate budget for the women’s, youth, and men’s first teams.

Anita Asante tweeted: “It’s 2025 and somehow women’s teams are still footing the bill for men’s bad money moves. Imagine winning everything, turning a profit and still being told to cut costs because the guys overspent. Sam story, new year. Barca Femeni left with 17 first team players- is Wilde.”

They have no budget for new players and every department affected b the financial issues the women’s side face their biggest test

Barcelona men are over one billion euros in debt and have been fined by UEFA for breaching financial sustainability rules.

The women’s side was once self-sufficient, but is now included in the financial balance with the men’s team.

this means that their spending is limited by the same rules and debt affecting the men’s side.
