In 2025, we saw the plans outlined to launch the first-ever annual FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. This tournament brings together women's football across the world. The champions from each of the six continental federations come together in a tournament. They are out for the crown for the best of the best across the world.
There are four remaining teams in the hunt to be crowned the very first winner of this competition.
Two sides began their journey in the first round, where OFC champions Auckland United were knocked out by AFC champions Wuhan Jiangda in a narrow 1-0 defeat.
Next for the Asian champions was a battle against African champions ASFAR, whose dramatic 2-1 comeback—which involved a late equaliser and extra-time winner—booked their spot in the last four.
They join the European, American, and South American champions for next year’s spectacle.
The full lineup includes:
- Arsenal (UEFA) – winners of the 24/25 UEFA Women’s Champions League
- ASFAR (CAF) – winners of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League
- Gotham FC (CONCACAF) – winners of the 24/25 CONCACAF W Champions Cup
- Corinthians (CONMEBOL) – winners of the 2025 Copa Libertadores Femenina
The host of the finals is Brentford, and Arsenal plays at the Emirates. The four upcoming fixtures will occur in London.
Brentford will host the semi-finals, while Arsenal will host the third-place play-off and the final, so they could, in fact, have home advantage in the final if they get to the final in London.
“Following our historic UEFA Women’s Champions League win in May, we’re proud that we will be competing on the global stage in the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup,” said our Chief Executive Officer Richard Garlick.
“We’re thrilled that the third-place match and final will be played at Arsenal Stadium, as we continue to pioneer and drive growth in the women’s game with our supporters. We look forward to delivering a memorable event for our community in North London and supporters of the game all over the world.”
Here are the key remaining dates for the upcoming finals:
Wednesday 28 January
Semi-finals
- Gotham FC v Corinthians (Time TBC)
- Arsenal v ASFAR (Time TBC)
Sunday 1 February
Third-play play-off
- TBD v TBD (Time TBC)
Final
- TBD v TBD (Time TBC)
The competitions are like tournament football, so it's simply a knockout.
In the event of a draw, it follows the traditional flow of extra time and, if the teams are still level after that, a penalty shootout.
