Aston Villa Women will mark the end of two careers following the retirements of Lucy Staniforth and Paula Tomás.
Staniforth will retire at the end of the 2025–26 season after a 16-year professional career. She joined Villa in 2023 and played a central role in their best-ever WSL finish, bringing experience and leadership to midfield.
Over her career she represented seven WSL clubs and earned 17 England caps. Speaking about her decision, she said she felt “at ease” and proud of her resilience after multiple serious injuries.
Tomás retires at the age of 24 due to ongoing knee issues. The Spanish defender made five WSL appearances this season and earned two senior caps for Spain earlier in her career.
