Chelsea and Arsenal
Why no one can stop talking about socks…
Arsenal kit people might need for employment elsewhere after providing the wrong socks. It is a tradition in football, not just the women, that the home team ( playing at their pitch) get first choice to wear their home kit, and the visitors have to use a kit that is distinct from it. However, someone at Arsenal needed to remember the socks. They came out to warm up in white socks with a red pattern; however, Chelsea's home kit is made of white socks. This led to a 30-minute delay in the game and a likely fine. In the end, Arsenal had to purchase Chelsea away socks ( of which are black) from the Megastore and cover the Nike badge with blue tape as Adidas is their kit sponsor. Arsenal fans will be using this as an excuse for their poor performance. “We had Chelsea's socks on; it syncs us; we cannot perform in other teams' socks?”
The routine and the type of socks you're used to wearing are essential, but they're different from your boots. It should be fine for your game.
The result was quite the reverse from the reserve feature at the Emirates, where Arsenal won 4-1, with a similar goal of 3-1 (Arsenal's goal was an own goal). The win would have been crucial to either team in the race to the title. However, it puts Chelsea in the lead with only a goal difference separating them from Manchester City, who also gave Brighton Hove Albon a shaming this weekend. Arsenal is still a possible contention, but they would need a miracle to play out the last six matches better than City and Chelsea to win the league. Chelsea is now six points clear of the Jonas Eidevall side, of which he's come under fire by fans for not producing silverware next to no while in the managerial role. It was quite a shock to both fan bases that the English forward Alessia Russo was on the bench, and Blakcstenius was placed in the striker position even though she netted a hattrick in the reverse fixture.
Chelsea is still hunting for the converted quadruple, making it to the League Cup final. The Champions League won the first leg of their quarter-final against Ajax away, and they are still in the FA Cup.
Lauren James, the Chelsea league all-time scorer for the season, opened the scoreboards on the London rivals with Sjoeke Nusken striking two before the halfway point. She has become Chelsea's secret number 10 weapon due to the long injuries of the first-choice strikers Mia Fischer and Sam Kerr. It can be shown the depth of ability of Chelsea due to three players being out with ACLs similar to that of Arsenal last seen, which they said was the reason for the lack of competition; however, this Chelsea squad seem more willed, solid and competitive than ever. This is down to their winning mentality and excellent hands-on manager plus backroom staff.
Although it was limited, there was some joy for Arsenal with a consolation goal from a Kim little strike, which Chelsea substitute Caterina Macario deflected. Still, this match was pivotal in eliminating Arsenal from contention to the title race with nothing short of a miracle to occur for a slight possibility of winning the league.
Lauren James, who was initially ruled off for the game due to illness, made a surprise appearance in the lineup to throw Arsenal off guard. Guro Reiten found England forward, who turned Steph Cately inside out and powered a strike-through Manuela Zinsberger, which looped into the net. The Arsenal goalkeeper has been under constant fire this season and in previous ones for her clinical saves, which cost Arsenal crucial points in the title race, leading Arsenal to secure Mary Earps in the January window with no prevail. Chelsea did not spot there, scoring the second goal just six minutes later with Rieten's delivery was teed up for Cuthbert with her low drive, which was diverted beyond Zinsberger by Nusken and leaving defender Leah Williamson behind and bewildered Johanna Rytting Kaneryd has been crucial for Chelsea this season with her fantastic ability to put the ball in the box she found the next via the outside boot of an unaware Nusken giving her six league goals for the seasons so far.
The Chelsea manager said in a post-match interview, “ I wanted the performance; I'm more interested in that than anything else. At the Emirates, we let ourselves down with the basics. We started the game better and more aggressively, particularly with our first and second balls. "We haven't got a striker; we're missing three No 9s. Lauren James had been sick all week, and we asked her to do a job up top. She had a tremendous game. "The whole team was tremendous. Eve Perriset, who has had a tough time, was outstanding. The better team won."
The reaction from the away team Jonas Eidevall in a press conference: "One of the things I'm most disappointed with is our performance - how much we allowed Chelsea to play within our organisation. They plan to get her to play with the ball while playing Lauren James as a No 9. They're very good at that. "We dealt with that very poorly, especially in the first half. That's a big part of us needing to receive the desired result. "In the first half, we kept turning over the ball, and they had a lot of players facing forwards. They are very dangerous. Those opportunities, they take. "When you look back at the first half, they scored with all their opportunities. They're good at that, but it's not good enough from our side."
To all non-Chelsea supporters, it would be hard-pressed not to want Manchester City to win and to end Chelsea's domination in the WSL over the last couple of years, but that energy has only made them want it more.
