Arsenal have dropped points after only four games in the WSL when Chelsea won 2-1 at the Emirates
The first goal came unexpectedly in the 4th minute, and there was a delayed celebration by the crowd and players as Mayra Ramirez scored.
The second goal for the Chelsea game was in the 16th minute after nearly 20 minutes of no Arsenal presence. Sandi Baltimore got her second goal in blue, making it 2/2 against Arsenal after scoring 1-0 in pre-season.
The last goal of the match came in the first half in the 42nd minute by Arsenals Caitlin Foord, who scored a sophisticated goal from the near corner into the far corner going past Hannah Hampton, the goalkeeper.
At the end of the first half, it was considerably dominated by Chelsea, with only Alessia Russo, who made some considerable efforts but did not have the support back to finish the job
Chelsea could win as they were clinical with the chances of getting it in the back of the net, unlike Arsenal, who should have won by the number of chances they had.
Arsenal have conceded in two games in a row from set pieces. Poor marking against Bayern Munich in the Champions League could have been solved in training.
The second half was much more dominated by Arsenal's chances not capitalised on.
However, Within the first minutes, there were two chances, both from outside the box from Lauren James and Johanna Rytting Kanyerd.
Arsenal had been given many set pieces, including free kicks, which they could have capitalised on by lacking the finesse to get past the Chelsea Defense and goalkeeper.
A special mention is given to Lucy Bronze, who took a body slam from Foord, who was nowhere near the ball and was given a yellow card.
Bronze lives up to her middle name of Tough, especially in the 67th minute when Frida Maanum landed straight on her head and neck after losing balance and going down.
The game was much opened up in the second half with end-to-end action
Aggie Beaver Jones had a fantastic chance, given so much space in the 67th-minute save by the Arsenal glad-keeper
Kanyard had an opportunity one minute later, but it was straight at the goalkeeper.
There was an outcry for an Arsenal penalty, but it was not given as there was no VAR. After the reply on the TV, it was shown that the ball hit Millie Bright's face, not her hand in the box.
Hampton saved Chelsea on many occasions in the second half; in the 86th minute, she committed to get the ball with the help of her defenders.
With all the opportunities that fell at Arsenal's feet, it was shocking that they were not at least level with Chelsea after another Hampton save of a Russo attempt in the 90th minute.
Beaver-Jones was one-on-one with the goalkeeper but put it just wide of the goal, making it easy for the keeper to save it in the 9th minute.
This game was about game management for Chelsea, and extra pressure was placed on the Arsenal manager, as that made it two defeats in a week, making the likelihood of silverware and the league unlikely after only one win, two draws, and a loss.
Chelsea still has a game in hand and a 100% winning start.
The start was sloppy and flat for Arsenal. It was an uphill battle for them- they could not put the ball in the back of the net.
This was Sonia Bompastor's first game against the old rivals Arsenal, with Emma Hayes, ex-Chelsea manager, in the stadium watching on to see her team away at Arsenal after being unable to do so in the last four games with two losses and two draws.
