It was another dramatic weekend in the Barclays Women’s Super League, from Tottenham’s comeback over Liverpool to Chelsea’s milestone moments and Manchester City’s gesture of solidarity. Every result told its own story across a weekend filled with emotion, resilience and late drama.
Manchester City Women 1–0 West Ham United Women
Saturday 1 November 2025 — Joie Stadium
Manchester City continued their unbeaten run with a narrow 1–0 win over West Ham United, who remain winless this season.
Aoba Fujino scored the decisive goal in the 26th minute after Vivianne Miedema won possession and laid off for the Japanese forward to strike low into the bottom-right corner. The city dominated possession (around 68%) and registered 18 shots, but managed just one on target, the goal itself.
West Ham had bright spells; Viviane Asseyi struck the crossbar, and the visitors pushed late but couldn’t find an equaliser.
City players wore black armbands as a mark of respect and support for everyone affected by the tragic events in Jamaica earlier in the week.
City’s control and professionalism kept them firmly in the title race, while West Ham remain bottom of the table and still without a win.
Chelsea Women 2–0 London City Lionesses
Saturday 1 November 2025 — Stamford Bridge
Chelsea maintained top spot with a 2–0 victory over newcomers London City Lionesses.
Ellie Carpenter scored her first goal for Chelsea in the sixth minute, turning home a low cross from Sandy Baltimore. Sam Kerr sealed the win in stoppage time (90+4′), her first home goal since returning from her ACL injury, and her 101st goal for Chelsea.
Chelsea’s clean sheet means they are the only side yet to concede against London City in the WSL, as Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City all have.
The Lionesses created first-half chances through Isobel Goodwin but couldn’t convert, while Chelsea’s defence and Hannah Hampton’s composure stood out.
Sonia Bompastor (Chelsea): “It’s tough because Hannah is an athlete but also a person, and it’s never nice to hear those comments.”
Chelsea remains top of the WSL; London City remains mid-table but continues to show signs of promise.
Leicester City Women 1–4 Arsenal Women
Sunday 2 November 2025 — King Power Stadium
Arsenal produced a dominant display, beating Leicester 4–1. Alessia Russo opened the scoring after just seven minutes, cutting inside and firing low into the bottom corner. A Sari Kees own goal doubled Arsenal’s lead on 32 minutes, and Stina Blackstenius added a third just four minutes later.
Leicester pulled one back through Noémie Mouchon on 83 minutes before Blackstenius struck again a minute later to seal the win.
Kim Little was withdrawn early in the match, replaced by Katie Reid, reportedly for precautionary reasons, with Renée Slegers opting to take no chances.
Slegers said: “Still getting the win when you’re not at your best… that was the mindset I’m happy with.”
Arsenal’s attacking sharpness keeps them in the title mix; Leicester’s defensive errors remain a problem.
Brighton & Hove Albion Women 2–3 Manchester United Women
Sunday 2 November 2025
Manchester United held off a late fightback to secure a 3–2 win away to Brighton.
Elisabeth Terland (45′) and Jess Park (58′) put United two ahead before Fran Kirby pulled one back in the 69th minute. Lisa Naalsund restored the two-goal cushion late on (89′), only for Kiko Seike to score in stoppage time (90+2′), setting up a tense finale.
United’s attacking combinations, featuring Toone, Park, and Terland, impressed throughout. Brighton’s fightback showed promise, but their defensive lapses again proved costly.
United remain unbeaten and firmly in the title race; Brighton suffer their third straight defeat.
Tottenham Hotspur Women 2–1 Liverpool Women
Sunday 2 November 2025 — Brisbane Road
Tottenham came from behind to earn a vital win that strengthens their top-four ambitions.
Beata Olsson opened for Liverpool in 12 minutes, finishing low into the corner after a sharp counter led by Ceri Holland. Spurs equalised soon after Olivia Holdt’s strength and turn created space for Toko Koga to score her first Tottenham goal from close range (19′).
Bethany England completed the turnaround in the 52nd minute, curling in a calm finish from Amanda Nildén’s low cross.
The match was delayed 15 minutes due to a medical emergency involving Liverpool’s Mia Enderby. The pause disrupted Liverpool’s momentum, and Spurs capitalised once play resumed.
Martin Ho (Tottenham): “We kept our nerve and trusted our patterns. After the break, we were relentless. It was a proper team win.”
Gareth Taylor (Liverpool): “We want to keep fighting… we gave everything, but the momentum shifted.”
Tottenham climb to fourth; Liverpool remain winless and in danger near the bottom.
Aston Villa Women 3–3 Everton Women
Sunday 2 November 2025 — Villa Park
A six-goal thriller at Villa Park saw Everton grab a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser.
Kelly Gago gave Everton the lead after 11 minutes, pouncing on a loose touch and firing low into the near post. Georgia Mullett equalised just before half-time (45+8′) before Kirsty Hanson turned it around for Villa (59′).
Ruby Mace’s own goal in the 74th minute brought Everton level, only for Villa to edge back ahead — until Gago struck again deep in stoppage time (90+4′) to snatch a 3–3 draw.
Villa dominated much of the match, twice hitting the post, but defensive lapses proved costly. Everton’s resilience and Gago’s finishing earned them a vital point.
Villa stay mid-table; Everton fight on in their push up the table.
League Picture
Chelsea remain top, ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal, with Manchester United close behind and Tottenham moving up to fourth.
At the other end, Liverpool and West Ham remain winless and in urgent need of a turnaround.
