England's Trophy-Winning Stars Bring Winning Mentality to Nations League and Euro Title Defense

While yesterday's news focused on Mary Earps's immediate departure from international duty, England still has some crucial matches coming up with UFEA Nations League matches. First, Portugal at Wembley, then away to Spain.

Around 16 squad members have been in or won finals this season, such as the Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup.

This success can only be a good thing with confidence and desire to win as England defends its Euro title in Switzerland.

Jess Carter said: “It's essential.

“We want to have players on this team who have won trophies, and they can bring so much experience from those wins.

“I think it only makes this team better by having players who have had a lot of success and many experiences to go off.

“If I can play and compete with other players who have won incredible things as well, I think we'll only strengthen our squad knowing that whoever you've put out on the pitch is ready and has competed at the highest level; I think it's only a great thing for the squad.”

She discussed the importance of experience in high-profile games ahead of July's tournament.

“I think it's incredible.

“We want players in this team who have won competitions, and I think that experience of knowing how to win is invaluable, and going to rely on those players who have won trophies when it gets to those tough games, and we're having to find a way to win.”

“I think you probably don't really learn some of those tactics on how to win until you've won or played against teams where you're the underdog and come out on top.

“I think the experience of winning a trophy is invaluable.”

Jess Carter has just started her first full season at Gotham City in the US and has won the Champions Cup.

She said, “It's amazing. I really love where I am and the team I'm with.

“I think it's essential for us as a team to win any trophy that we can compete for.

“So obviously, that's great for me; coming in to camp up the back of a win and having regular games is important.”

Ultimately the more experienced players get in big games no matter the outcome is something managers look for especially their response to the march result and will only serve England well this Summer.
